This report gives a brief look at the concept of culture which has been supported, under various points of view, through time. New perspectives and different concepts of culture culminate in the understanding of culture as something cross-sectional to new areas and different themes. This is a report based on the Master's degree internship held at APORFEST - Associação Portuguesa dos Festivais de Música has an objective of obtaining the Master’s degree of Cultura e Comunicação at Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa. All the information initially collected about the institution, its history and structure culminate in the understanding and constatation of music festivals as cultural spaces. The observation of different characteristics that justify how APORFEST events and music festivals in general are organized, and how all their communication is the key to their success and to new cultural experiences were the guiding principles of this work, in a critic sense of a global analysis of the music festivals industry future in Portugal
Discrimination of varietal olive oils of the portuguese cultivars Cobrançosa, Madural and Verdeal based on their fatty acids composition
The fatty acid composition has been traditionally used to discriminate the
different vegetable oils and confirm their authenticity. The aim of the present study
was to check the possible use of the fatty acid profile to differentiate varietal olive
oils of the three most important cultivars in Northeast Portugal (Cobrançosa,
Madural and Verdeal). Fifteen varietal olive oils from each of the three cultivars
were collected to achieve that goal.
Fatty acids were determined, as methylesters, by HRGC. Methylesters were
prepared by transesterefication with BF3/methanol after saponification with
methanolic KOH. The fatty acid pattern was performed with a Chrompack CP9001
equipped with a split-splitless injector, a FID and a 50m x 0,25 mm i.d. fused silica
capillary column coated with a 0.19µm film of CP-Sil88 (Chrompack). The
temperatures of injector, detector and oven were 230, 250 and 185ºC, respectively.
The results as shown by two-way Anova techniques and discriminant analysis
demonstrate that C16:1c, C17:1, C18, C18:1c, C18:2cc and C18:3ccc can be used to
discriminate the origin of each of the three olive oils
Effect of olive fruit fly infestation on the quality of olive oil from cultivars cobrançosa, madural and verdeal transmontana
Olives (Olea europaea L.) from cultivars
Cobrançosa, Madural and Verdeal
Transmontana were collected separately
and divided into two different
groups according to the presence or
absence of infestation by the olive fruit
fly (Bactrocera oleae Gmel.). These two
groups were then mixed in varying percentages
to create five groups of olives
per cultivar with infestation levels: 0,
12.5, 25, 50 and 100%. Each group was
then processed to produce olive oil. The results, regarding mainly acidity, peroxide
value, and stability to oxidation,
suggest that olive fruit fly infestation
reduces the quality of the olive oil. The
effects of infestation varied according
to cultivar, but in general the total tocopherol
content was always lower at
the 100% infestation level. The oil from
cultivar Verdeal Transmontana had the
lowest tocopherol content compared to
oil from cultivars Cobrançosa and Madural,
which could explain the lower
quality of its oil
Nurses´ actions for chronic renal patients: reflection of comprehensive care focus
Objectives: to identify and discuss the health care activities of nurses to chronic renal patients in
hemodialysis treatment. Method: an integrative review of the scientific literature with a qualitative
approach, whose purpose was to gather and analyze the findings in databases that have interoperability with
the Virtual Health Library (VHL). Results: there were 10 published articles selected between 2005 and 2010
grouped into three themes: Actions Guidance on Health, Family Empowerment, focused care to the family
nucleus and Care Surveillance. Conclusion: to enlarge the care focus of hemodialysis services is to promote
an arrangement of care practices to the proposal for comprehensive care, which adds to expertise a look
under the sociocultural dimensions of user needs
O PROCESSO FORMATIVO VIA ALTERNÂNCIA NA ESCOLA FAMÍLIA AGRÍCOLA – EFAR
The purpose of this article is to discuss vocational education via alternation pedagogy carried out by Agricultural Families Schools – EFAs. To do so, we reflect on the relationship between technical education and training via the pedagogy of alternation in the professional training of young people. The analysis focuses on the contributions, tensions, and contradictions of these teaching practices from the perspective of the school-work relationship. The data come from the master’s research, in progress, entitled “Training processes via alternation: graduates of the Rosalvo da Rocha Rodrigues Family Agricultural School – EFAR”. The study is based on the historical-dialectical materialism method. The analysis process took place through interviews with six EFAR graduates. The discussion starts from the following problem: does vocational education, via alternating EFAs, favor emancipation or subordination in the socio-professional insertion of young peasants? The results point out that the pedagogy of alternation acts against the grain of technicality, supported by the principle of social organization of the social movements of the struggle for/on the land, the EFAs carry out a formative process in the perspective of education and work in a humanizing way of human emancipation.
Classification PDO olive oils on the basis of their sterol composition by multivariate analysis
The sterol compositions (GLC/FID/capillary column) of monovarietal olive oils (51 samples) from the most important cultivars of northeastern
Portugal (Cvs. Cobranc¸osa, Madural and Verdeal Transmontana) and 27 commercial samples of olive oils with protected denomination
of origin (PDO) from the same region and cultivars were evaluated.
Δ-sitosterol, Δ5-avenasterol and campesterol were the most representative sterols. Cholesterol, stigmasterol, clerosterol and Δ7-stigmastenol
were also found in all samples. All studied samples respected EC Regulation N. 2568, and in all cases total sterols were remarkably higher
than the minimum limit set by legislation, ranging from 2003 to 2682 mg/kg.
Results were analysed with the help of several statistical techniques, including reduction of dimensionality by principal component analysis
with cross-validation of the number of components, followed by the use of canonical variate predictive biplots for model development and
canonical variate interpolative biplots for approximate classification of monovarietal and PDO olive oils. These biplots proved to be a very
interesting solution in the present case study, overcoming the problems of interpretation and classification that arise whenever different
multivariate analyses are coupled together
